Fiber, glaze, and deliberate imperfection — the Waves lamp designed by Renee Wightman for Uttermost is a piece where the making is part of the message. This cobalt blue ceramic table lamp is finished by hand, each application of light cobalt blue drip glaze slightly different from the last, pooling and trailing across an abstract wrinkle surface that catches light from every angle. The result is something that sits closer to sculpture than to standard lamp design. Brushed nickel iron accents ground the piece with cool metallic precision, offering a clean counterpoint to the organic, almost fluid quality of the ceramic body beneath.

The Waves collection draws on Art Nouveau sensibilities — a design language built around organic form, natural movement, and surface as expression. The abstract wrinkle texture of the base gives the lamp a dimensional quality that flat or smooth ceramics simply cannot achieve. As light plays across the ridges and recesses of the surface, the cobalt blue glaze shifts in tone, deepening in shadow and brightening at the peaks.
